NEWSFLASH: Working Holidays In Retail Makes You Cynical and Jaded and Tired!
When you get a rare, coveted three-day weekend by working six days in a row, you're too tired to enjoy it, and do little more than nap on the couch. :| I spent most of Thursday unconscious with my laptop, only coming to the surface when someone pinged me.
(And they still tried to call me in to work).
( Some work drama. )On the flip side, there are excellent things upcoming!
1) I am going back to school in the spring (well, spring semester, which starts January 11th. It's all pending an appeal, of course—but I am going to be optimistic and say that they'll probably accept it because they accepted a certain person who shall remain nameless after they bombed some classes and their GPA, and I didn't bomb my GPA, I dropped out for personal/medical reasons and my GPA was saved! I have one level course (The British Novel) and one freshman lit course (Intro to Lit I, which is the classical stuff, I'm probably doomed).
2) Birthday dinner to The Melting Pot is definitely occurring! Reservations are made, birthday is in a week, and not that I'm hinting or anything but I wouldn't turn up my nose if someone wanted to write some fic with some makeouts. >.>
3) I wrote one paragraph on Weedyverse using Write or Die. This could be a match made in heaven. 2010: The Year of Epics? Or maybe even The Year of Any Fic At All, Please Let This Be So, For Fuck's Sake
4) Yuletide fic! I did not participate but I wrangled some tags on the periphery and there are tons of awesome stories and it is pretty rad. No lie, the Collections feature is
shiny and I want it for FFEX like burning. You were a good friend, little LJ comm, but I am afraid you will be replaced come next round.
5) FFEX is pretty much a go at this point barring some technical things we'll spend January working on (and we don't blow up). I am already thinking of prompts and how I will totally write another 20,000 word story for a rare pairing while working full time and in school and also doing tons of nerdy tag wrangling.
...I'm hopeless. :|
